Now everybody has returned from Spring Break, it’s becoming evident that, even though classes stopped for a week, our students haven’t exactly been slacking. It was Todd Danen (Alumni Relations) who pointed this out to me this morning after Common Prayer. St. Norbert was well represented in New York City and New York State, both. Our choir sang under the baton of composer John Rutter in Carnegie Hall and our men’s hockey team – well, our new national champions successfully defended their title at Lake Placid, just saying … .
Meanwhile, the Knights on Broadway were performing in Florida. Baseball and softball were also in Florida, for spring training. Green Knight golf was opening its season in Texas. At Common Prayer, Todd and I had just heard members of a service trip reflect on communio – the deeply-felt sense of community that they experience not only here on campus, but encounter amongst the people who welcome them to their St. Lucia home. The group was in St. Lucia in January but this spring other TRIPS groups were at work in Philadelphia; Greenville, S.C.; Little Rock, Ark.
Now it’s back to business as usual, and we welcome the hockey team home tomorrow with a campus-wide celebration at 4 p.m. in front of Main Hall. (Rain site is Schuldes Sports Center). It’ll be good to have the NCAA Championship trophy home once again.
