Examples of Masculine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:
- Assertive/leadership ability/willing to take risks: Despite feeling sympathetic for Angela, Macy feels that the Charmed Ones need to go through with the ritual killing of the Harbinger of Hell’s human host, claiming that “it’s the most rational solution” to spare countless other lives from the impending apocalypse, expressing this to her sisters.
- Defends own beliefs: Macy chooses to look at the Harbinger situation rationally and analytically like the scientist she is, comparing it to “utilitarianism.”
- Strong personality: Macy tells her sisters that she keeps her emotions in check because it helps her “protect herself.”
Examples of Feminine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:
- Tender: When the Elder Charity tells Macy that she once performed a spell on her mother Marisol to help her get over a tragic loss (i.e. leaving Macy) so that she could continue living, Macy uncharacteristically begins to cry, and leaves to help her sisters perform an exorcism on Angela.
- Sympathetic: Macy feels bad for Angela Wu, the college student and human vessel of the Harbinger of Hell, and wishes to help her towards the end of the episode.
- Eager to soothe hurt feelings: Macy apologizes to Mel and Maggie for not assisting them with the exorcism sooner, and tells them that “having emotions isn’t a bad thing.”
Conclusion: Despite her growth at the end of the last episode, Macy still finds it hard to let go of her coping mechanisms that have helped her through life thus far. However, by accepting her destiny as a Charmed One and a witch, she has become somewhat softer and more open with Mel and Maggie, something that I hope will carry into future episodes.
