Goffman’s Categories in Men’s vs Women’s Sketchers Ads

Ad One: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ac/b9/ce/acb9ceec497154549b6d98ef47389b82.jpg

Feminine Touch

Notice that Kim has her hand resting on her hip in the photo, exhibiting feminine touch.

Licensed Withdrawal

In this ad, Kim is looking directly at the camera not displaying licensed withdrawal.

The thing about this ad that really bothers me is the lack of a shirt, which seems completely pointless.

Ad Two: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/97/07/39/970739dcd42c1dae8d101f279fe0498e.jpg

This ad is much like the first ad. We see Feminine Touch in the way that Camila has her arms resting on her legs. She is also looking directly at the camera.

Ad Three: https://miro.medium.com/max/410/1*PLhq6isy54rZ0I0HDrEIDw.jpeg

These two ads are very similar In the way that both men are completing actions and exhibiting Licensed Withdrawal. I believe this is the first post I’ve done where both women are looking directly at the camera where both men are looking away. Notice that the men are wearing less revealing clothing than the women and showing less skin. Also, both of these ads are for the same type of shoe as the ad for Kim K, and in both of these ads, the men are playing different sports, while Kim is simply standing there in a sports bra.
