Sex Role Analysis

Feminine

  • Amelia is sympathetic to her patient as she understands what she is going through and doesn’t judge her patient on her actions to avoid her spouse.
  • She is understanding in this episode when she is talking to another coworker about understanding the pressure about dating as she also feels like she has no game. Amelia also opens up to her coworker about her past.
  • When she is talking to Owen at the end of the episode she is seen as gentler as she is concerned about his feelings and brings him a gift as she comes over unexpectedly.
    • Body lunge & Dress: More delicate with her actions and she was dressed more feminine in this episode.

Masculine

  • Amelia is seen as assertive as she is forceful with her patient as she sternly tells her (raising her voice) to lie down so they can get the scans done, along with making sure there are no distractions.
  • Amelia is seen here taking a risk if she goes out to see her boss who she has a crush on, she takes the risk by visiting him unannounced and bringing him a gift. Even though it is outside of her comfort zone she goes out on a limb and takes the risk of knowing that things could end badly no matter what happens.
    • Body lunge & Dress: when Amelia is with her patient she stands tall and does raise her voice on one occasion.
