My experience with American holidays

Hello, my name is Saya. I’m from Japan. My major is International Relations. I want to be a businesswoman to work using English. I came here to study and improve my English skills.

I’d like to talk about my experience with American holidays. I have never experienced Halloween and Thanksgiving Day in the United States. First, it is Halloween. There was a Halloween party on campus. Everyone wore a costume to the party. Games and costume contests were done. I also joined in and I enjoyed it with my friends. On another day, I enjoyed the Halloween events with my friendship family. There, I wore a Harry Potter costume with them. I went from door to door with their children to get candy and snacks. It was so fun.

Next, it was Thanksgiving Day.  The day before Thanksgiving, I spent time with my friendship family. Thanksgiving Day I spent with my friend’s family. I saw a parade that it was held in New York on TV. There are huge balloons of various character. I thought that the balloons were big when I saw the parade on TV, so it might be impressive to see it in person. Both times I ate turkey, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and so on. The food was very delicious. I could talk with a lot of people.

In conclusion, I have experienced two holidays in the United States. I was able to spend the time I had never experienced in Japan. I had a great time!
