Campus Friendships

By Aya Sato

Hello, my name is Aya. I’m from Japan and the ESL student at St. Norbert ollege. My major is International Relations. I decided to come to SNC because I wanted to improve my English skills, and try to gain experience. In the future, I want to be a flight attendant, so I have to study more English. This is also a one of the reasons I came to SNC.
I ‘m going to talk about my friendships on campus. During these seven months of my life, I made a lot of friends. They are not only American but also other country’s friends. I think they are so kind and support me whenever I’m in trouble. When I first came here, I was very nervous because I worried about my English, experienced homesickness and culture shock. On such occasions, they lent me an ear. They talked to me. Also, I often studied with them in the library. While studying, we talked about cultures, foods, and spots of each countries. We spent good times together. When I couldn’t understand English, they taught me so it was easy to understand. So, I didn’t want to give up my English even though it was difficult. Moreover, I often hung out with them. For example, we watched movies, went shopping, bowling, skating, and celebrated birthdays. The time which spent with them was precious memories and so amazing for me. Therefore, I appreciate my friends. My time in the U.S has come to an end. I think I will miss them. Before I go back to Japan, I want
to keep study hard and spend the more time with them!
