My Everyday Life on Campus

My Everyday Life on Campus

I’m going to share about my everyday life on St. Norbert College with you. Last semester, I was taking grammar, reading, listening, writing, and speaking classes. And I’m taking 5 classes in this semester too. My classes are intercultural communication, U.S. literature, intercultural business, grammar, and U.S. history. As I mentioned before, this semester’s classes are cultural immersion. My classes start at 9:40am at the earliest, and finish at 1:30pm at the latest. So basically, I take classes in the morning and I do my homework in the afternoon. Even though we have lots of homework everyday, the teachers help me a lot. And there are students who are from Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Peru, Slovakia, and Japan in ESL class. Everyone is very friendly so my classes are energetic.

And also I often hang out with my American friends. I think it’s really helpful for me because I get exposure to English for a long time. To be honest, when I first arrived here, I was very nervous and felt anxious. Because I didn’t know anybody, nobody knew me, and I couldn’t speak English fluently. So I worried about what I should do when I need some help. Moreover, it was kind of uncomfortable for me to talk with people who speak English because I didn’t want to make someone bored because of my ambiguous English. That’s why I wasn’t a positive person. However, many experiences changed me. I like talking with American people, I want to use English after I go back to Japan, and I became a positive person. Needless to say, my skills of English must be much better than before. In addition, I’m sure that I grew up as a person through this experience.

My time in the U.S. was very valuable. It’s priceless. Therefore I appreciate my teachers, my parents, my friends, and this opportunity. I have just a few days until I go back to Japan so I want to study harder and hang out a lot with my friends. I don’t regret choosing St. Norbert College. Thank you!
