Not Following Stereotypes
Kelly’s dad tested her on ships that were involved in wars and she knew them all. Men are the ones we usually think of when we picture soldiers, and women would not usually know information like that.
Kevin and V are taking in a foster child, and Kevin is more excited about it than V. Usually, the woman is more excited because the woman would be taking care of the child and spending most of the time with the child. V and Kevin both work at the bar they own and watch the children equally.
Debbie is a welder and makes a decent wage for her and her daughter. Women are not often found in the trades and are not usually the main income of the household, but since she is a single mom she has no choice.
Following Stereotypes
Most of the people at the Alibi are men, there is only one female besides two female bartenders. Men are the ones we usually picture at bars drinking beers and watching sports.
Kevin wants his new foster child to be good at baseball, so he teaches him how to play catch. This is pretty common for the dad to teach the son how to play sports and practice them.
Tammy goes over to Lip’s house and criticizes how dirty it is and tells him how to clean. Lip does not see that the house is dirty and does not understand what Tammy is trying to tell him. Women are the ones that clean the house, men do not typically know how to clean nor care if things are clean.
Bechdel Test
There were no scenes with two females with names talking to each other in this episode.
