Not Following Stereotypes

Tami wanted to take care of Fred by herself. Lip is worried about how Fred is doing and if he is eating enough. Usually, the roles would be reversed and the mom would be worried about the dad taking care of the child.

Following Stereotypes

When Lip picks up Ian from prison he drives Tami’s car which is a red mini cooper. Ian asks Lip if he drives a “lady car” now. I feel like it is pretty stereotypical for a woman to drive a small brightly colored car.

Lip is worried about how Tami is doing with Lip so he asks Sarah t go over and help Tami get Fred to eat and keep him on schedule. Tami does not want help but later agrees. I feel like it is stereotypical for women to ask other women for parenting advice.

When Kelly comes home and sees that Carl is hanging out with Anne she gets pretty jealous and tries to keep Carl away from her. I think it is a stereotypical thing for women to get jealous if their boyfriend is hanging out with another girl.

Lip goes to Debbie and asks if it was wrong for him to send Sarah to help Tami. Debbie says that it was wrong. Men usually need advice on parenting and seek out women for that advice.

Bechdel Test

Debbie is trying to give Peppa court papers, so she goes up to her house to try and give them to her. Peppa says she will not take them. I think this passes the Bechdel test because they are two main female characters and they are not talking about men.

Debbie, Peppa, Patty, and Megan are at a restaurant and they are talking about how Debbie is going to get Derek’s benefit money. Since they are talking about Derek this fails the Bechdel Test.

Kelly and Anne are in the kitchen and they are talking about how Kelly needs to tell Carl that she gave him an STD. Anne says that he deserves to know because he is a good guy. This fails the Bechdel test because they are two female leads and they are talking about Carl.
