Not Following Stereotypes

When Fiona left she left the money and the house to Debbie. Debbie is now running the house and the finances and the bills. Usually, the man covers finance and runs the house. The most stereotypical thing to do was to leave the house to Lip because he is the next oldest sibling in the house.

Kevin was playing basketball and he missed a shot and all of the players started making fun of his shoes. This was visibly upsetting for Kevin and he goes home to try and find a new pair online. Men stereotypically do not show their emotions openly especially to another group of men.

In order to pay for the shoes that Kevin wants he finds a side job as a male stripper. Women are usually what come to mind when people think of strippers. Also, men strip for amusement, whereas women strip to be a sexual object for people to look at.

Tami has her baby and gets rushed into surgery due to complications. Lip is then left to take care of their new baby until Tami gets better. When a baby is born the mother is usually the one spending the most time with the baby, but since Tami cannot due that Lip knows he has to. This is the maternal side of him coming out once again.

Following Stereotypes

While Debbie was at work she starts complaining about all of her home responsibilities to her coworker. She complains that everyone is gross and does not pick up after themselves. Women are seen as naggy and the ones who do the housework. Since Debbie is already running the house and Lip just had a baby that she would be the one cleaning up after everyone.

Kevin wants to get better at basketball so he makes a protein shake with protein powder, lettuce, raw hamburger, hot sauce, and a Red Bull. When he drinks the shake he screams, rips his shirt off, and bangs his head into the wall. This might be due to the masculinity or tolerance he wants to build up. He also says before he makes the shake that it will “enrich his manhood”
