During this episode, it starts off pretty rough for Rory in the fact that she earned a D on one of her first papers to turn in at her new school. This was something very hard for Rory to deal with as this is the first D that she had ever earned in her life. This was a motivator for Rory because she then had a large exam that coming Friday. This episode was interesting in the sense to see how feminine or masculine Rory was portrayed.

Feminine Traits:

  • sensitive to others needs – Rory wanted to make her mom happy and tell her that she will do something with her later after she’s done studying.
  • Rory was dressed more feminine in this episode as this is what viewers might expect to see on a teenage girl.
  • does not use harsh language – no matter how stressed out Rory was about her school work, she was still very soft spoken and kept a positive attitude.
  • compassionate – Rory got hit by a deer on her way to school to take this big exam. She was very upset about it and wanted to make sure that the deer was okay by taking time to step out of the car to check on the deer. This made Rory extra late.

Masculine Traits:

  • strong personality traits – Rory made sure that her personality was showing through when she was annoyed by a boy in his efforts to talk to her
  • ambitious – Rory wanted to do very well on her big exam.
  • competitive – I’ve noticed that Rory is very competitive with herself in the sense that she always wants to do better in school.
  • forceful – when Rory got upset because she was late for her exam, she was more forceful to her fellow classmates due to her being upset.
  • Rory is willing to stick up for herself.

Overall I feel within this episode that Rory was more masculine within this episode given the fact by how forceful she was and her strong personality traits that were shown throughout the episode. While there were some feminine aspects, Rory was very ambitious and strong minded this episode.
