This right here is an ad for a man’s shirt on ASOS after looking up “men’s shirt” in the search bar. This picture supports the sex role theory of what masculinity is. First, let’s talk about the description, it uses the word “muscle” which fits a masculine description of a man. The word alone seems like it is selling the shirt because in society it is attractive for a man to be “muscular”. Next the pose on the model, it seems like he is confident and looks like he is willing to take risks. He seems like he is willing to take risks because he has tattoos, and they are not pain free. In a way, he also looks ambitious because he knows he looks good and whatever he will do he will be great at. Also, by his pose it seems like he is able to make decisions easily because of how relaxed he is, it’s like his body is saying “I’m not worried about anything.” He is leaning back on the balcony or whatever he is on and looking at the camera as if he is confident and knows he looks handsome.
