In this post I will be explaining the Sex Role Traits of Toni Topaz one

of the Main Character in the teen Drama Riverdale using the Items of the

Bem Sex Role Inventory.

 

Toni Topaz is one of the main character in the show Riverdale.

Throughout her time on the 4 seasons we have seen her develop as one of

the only girls in a biker gang called the Southside Serpents to Cheryl

Blossom’s love interest. For all she has been put through with her biker

gang and Cheryl  she has some very strong traits that I’m excited to uncover.

 

Feminine

Loyal- Toni is a very loyal character not only to her girlfriend Cheryl but also to the Serpents. She is an active voice in the group and voices her opinion regularly. She is also one of the cheerleaders the river vixens while at Riverdale High.

 

Affectionate- Toni and Cheryl are very affectionate and are very romantically involved. They do not let the stereotype of being a bi/transgender or a lesbian get in the way of their relationship at all.

 

Gullible- We see Toni get pulled into many scams throughout the series like in season four when Reggie and Kevin pulled her into a tickling business which landed her in some hot fire. She also gets herself kidnapped and is saved by Jughead.

 

Masculine 

Independent- Toni lives on her own when we first meet her in the series and she is someone who is self sustaining she works are the bar the White Worm which is the Serpent head quarters.

 

Assertive- When Toni has something to say she says it! She is not afraid to share her opinion and is definitely not a shy young lady thats for sure. She is very vocal when it comes to protecting the Serpents and when voting on different decisions on the group.

 

Willing to take risks- She is someone who will do whatever she can do to help in every situation. At one point in the series we see Cheryl get admitted to a home for troubled youth called the Sisters of Quiet Mercy and she is admitted to the gay conversion program where they make her go under way some test and activities that would be looked at as barbaric. Toni and Veronica take on the challenge of breaking her out and are successful in the rescue but risk their lives and safety to get the job done.

 

 

In Conclusion 

 

Toni Topaz leans more the the Masculine side of the Bem Sex Role Inventory list and this is because of the life style that she has chosen and the way she goes about her life.
