In this post I will be explaining the Sex Role Traits of Fred Andrews the Main Character in the teen Drama Riverdale using the Items of the Bem Sex Role Inventory.

 

Fred Andrews is one of the main character in the show Riverdale. Throughout the 4 seasons we have see Fred be involved in his work, family life and his campaign for the mayor of Riverdale. Below I am going to break down some of the traits into feminine and masculine columns and explain with each word from the Items of the Bem Sex Role Inventory, and why it applies to him.

 

Feminine 

Loyal- Fred is someone who throughout the show is always there for his son the main character Archie. He is always helping him through whatever trouble he’s in and is always there to help him out of trouble. Fred is also someone who is loyal to riverdale he loves his city and will do whatever it takes to keep Riverdale the safe happy city it once was.

 

Understanding- Fred is someone who has been through a lot and has a wide variety of knowledge in what is best for his son and the town. Archie makes some questionable decisions throughout the four seasons but Fred is always there to help him through the situation and whatever trouble Archie finds himself in.

 

Cheerful- Even in the darkest times in the show he is someone who always has a smile on his face. He is someone who is shot and is very optimistic about his recovery and the future. Even when the town is being threatened with drugs and his arch enemy taking over the south side of the city he is someone who is always trying to be positive.

 

Masculine 

Leadership Ability- He is someone who owns his own construction company and is in charge of some of the biggest projects in Riverdale when it comes to construction. He also runs for Mayor and loses but not in a fair fight.

 

Willing to take a stand- Fred is one of the only people in the town of Riverdale to stand up to Veronica Lodges Father Hirum and all the bad he is doing. He is trying to take over the city.

 

Self- sufficient- He is a single father still married but separated and he continues to provide for Archie and Jughead who lives with them for a short period of time while F.P.(Jughead’s Dad)  gets his shit together.

 

In Conclusion 

Fred Andrews is more of a Feminine character according to the Bem Sex role Inventory list. He cares about the well being of the people around him and the city as a whole. He hopes to be the good in a sea of evil and he prevails every time!
