Examples of Masculine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:

  • Analytical: Macy is able to figure out that the latest “demon-of-the week” targeting and kidnapping vulnerable women is a virality demon feeding off their life force.
  • Willing to take a stand: Macy and her sisters try to stand up to the Elders and try to get them to reinstate his powers, while also working to take down the virality demon and his cult of magically enslaved women.
  • Aggressive: Macy is able to fight back against the demon and slay him herself, saving Maggie and countless others under his thrall.

Examples of Feminine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:

  • Sympathetic/sensitive to others’ needs: Macy is worried about Galvin not returning her texts while on his “quest” to cure her demon side, while also worrying about Harry, who has been stripped of his duties as a Whitelighter and his magical powers, turning him into a 98 year old man.
  • Affectionate/compassionate: At the end of the episode, Macy fixes Old Man Harry tea and tucks him with a blanket, doting on him as his rapid aging will soon cause him to die.

Conclusion: Given the huge Macy-centric plot in 1×16, it makes sense that she is a bit on the back-burner in 1×17 to give her sisters more of a spotlight. Though with a lesser presence, Macy is still shown to care a lot about her sisters and Harry, and her tenderness towards Harry in the ending of the episode highlights how her bond with her Whitelighter continues to deepen. She is also willing to stand up to the Elders, the very institution that allowed Charity to abuse her, as well as stand up for other women being abused by the virality demon, which is incredibly empowering.
