In this issue of GQ magazine, professional basketball player, LeBron James is given a sense of superiority through the use of several characteristics that represent certain male stereotypes. Using a Sex Role Perspective, it is easy to see how these traits fit in with the typical male image.

A Sex Role Perspective 
  1. Active Role
    • In this specific depiction of James, he is looking directly into the camera. This use of eye contact shows his dominance as a male athlete. It draws the audience into his eyes and represents a sense of composure and confidence.
  2. The Crown
    • Quite literally in this image, James has a crown on his head made of gold. This is a major symbolization of success, power, and strength. It represents the accomplishment and fame that he has achieved. This supports the stereotype that men are simply more victorious than women.
