In episode 19 of New Girl, season one, there are examples of breaking gender stereotypes and doing gender stereotypes. Typical gender stereotypes is Nick gets caught having multiple girlfriends and they make the girlfriends out to have catfights over a boy. This is typical gender stereotypes because the girls are focused on the boy and turning against their own gender. Another gender stereotype is Schmidt says, “we need to take care of our girls.” This line shows he is being territorial over the females and thinking he is more assertive than them. Breaking a gender stereotype is when Jesse gets mad and kicks Schmidt. This is breaking gender stereotypes because Jesse is seen as aggressive and having power over Schmidt.
