In stark contrast, for my 14th portfolio post I chose a cologne commercial that takes full advantage of using sexuality as a means of selling their product.
- relative size — present, at 43 seconds and 8 seconds the female lead is shown in the background while the main focus is on the male lead.
- feminine touch — absent
- function ranking — absent
- The family –absent
- Ritualization of subordination — present, at 38 seconds the male character makes a move to kiss the female leads neck in a rather aggressive way
- Licensed withdrawal — absent
What I found most interesting about this commercial was the amount of touching the female lead was doing. She rarely wasn’t touching the male lead in some sensual way or another. To me, this felt like an attempt to subconsciously convince the viewers that they too could be touched like this if they only used the right cologne
