In this episode, Frankie finds Sol and comes to realize that he slept on their patio at the beach house last night. Having been kicked out of the house by Robert, Sol didn’t know where else to go. Grace tries to help the situation by going to check on Robert and grabbing some things for Sol from his house. Frankie escapes the situation and goes to tell Jacob how she feels. When Grace returns to the beach house, she tells Sol that he needs to leave because being with Frankie is only hurting him more. However, when Grace gets a message on Facebook from Phil, she asks Sol to stick around to help her. In the end, Grace gets things under control, Sol leaves to go home, and Frankie returns from her boyfriends house.
Grace and Frankie “The Boar” passes the Bechdel Test by including…
- Two women: Grace and Frankie
- Conversations that occur between both Grace and Frankie
- There’s a conversation that doesn’t involve men in which Grace and Frankie talk about the dishwasher that Frankie broke.
Grace Skolka (Hanson)

- Grace, after leaving Robert, came home to Sol and very aggressively told him he should have never came to their house.

- When Phil messages Grace, she doesn’t know what to say or how to act so she has to ask Sol for his help. It reminded me of a middle school relationship where 5 girls gather around and help one message a boy.
Frankie Bergestein

- Frankie is also quite sensitive when she is talking to Robert.
In this episode of Grace and Frankie, I think that Grace portrays more masculinity and Frankie portrays more femininity. Grace, in trying to deal with the situation between Robert and Sol, had to be more outspoken and assertive throughout the episode. On the other hand, Frankie, in expressing her feelings to Jacob, was more soft and feminine throughout the episode.
