In this episode, the ladies deal with their own issues causing them to get little time together. 

This episode would pass the Bechdel test. 

  • There are four main characters that are girls 
  • The four girls are all neighbors and close friends, so they interact almost daily
  • In this episode, Lynette and her neighbor, Mrs. Mcklusky, discussed her health condition as she ages. 

Bree

  • Feminine characteristics: Soft-spoken, Doesn’t use harsh language, Loves children 
    • Bree tries to keep her children’s best interest in her mind, but it comes off wrong to them. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Assertive, Willing to take a stand, Ambitious 
    • Bree invites their reverend over for dinner in order to attempt to talk her son out of being homosexual. This ends badly as her husband backs up their son. 

Susan

  • Feminine characteristics: Understanding 
    • Susan understands how her mother copes with her break ups regardless of how different it is from herself. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Assertive, Willing to take a stand 
    • Susan tells her mother that she can’t bring random men into the house and that she is overstepping boundaries as she tries to help Susan move on the way she does. 

Lynette

  • Feminine characteristics: Sensitive to others’ needs, Compassionate, Loves children 
    • Lynette helps a neighbor regardless of their rough history. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Willing to take a stand 
    • Lynette stands up to her crabby neighbor when she nags about her yard and tries to avoid her. 

Gabby

  • Feminine characteristics: Affectionate, Feminine, Childlike 
    • Gabby uses her looks and charm to get men to pay for her shopping and fine dining after her husband cuts up her credit cards. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Willing to take risks, Willing to take a stand 
    • Gabby decides to start seeing John again as a way to get back at her husband. She also doesn’t allow her husband to sleep in their bed unless he rips the post-nup he forced her into signing.
