In this post we’ll take a look at when Evelyn breaks gender stereotypes in the first film.
At one point in the film, a different Egyptologist states that Evelyn is a woman, and asks what she could possibly know. The screen then cuts to Evelyn, talking about everything she knows. She isn’t questioned by the men with her as she educates them about the location. She even leads them into the digging site sooner and finds more valuable treasures than the other.
Evelyn breaks gender stereotypes by showcasing that she is highly intelligent.
