In episode fourteen, all of the girls celebrate Valentine’s Day in their own ways. 

This episode would not pass the Bechdel test. 

  • There are four main characters that are girls 
  • The four girls are all neighbors and close friends, so they interact almost daily
  • In this episode, all of the girls had conversions about men. 

Bree

  • Feminine characteristics: affectionate, loyal, understanding, soft-spoken, loves children 
    • Bree begins to rekindle her relationship with her husband. 
  • Masculine characteristics: willing to take risks, dominant, individualistic, ambitious 
    • Bree lays out the plan for how her and her husband will make things work again. 

Susan

  • Feminine characteristics: cheerful, affectionate, 
    • Susan is very happy with Mike as they celebrate their first Valentine’s Day together. 
  • Masculine characteristics: defends own beliefs
    • Susan has to tell Mike she doesn’t want any more kids although he wants his own. 

Lynette

  • Feminine characteristics: cheerful, loves children 
    • Lynette is excited to spend a night with her husband after spending most of her time with her children. 
  • Masculine characteristics: defends own beliefs, assertive, willing to take a stand, competitive 
    • Lynette stands up for her kids as the neighbor accuses them of stealing her things. 

Gabby

  • Feminine characteristics: feminine 
    • Gabby spends most of her time modeling to make money. 
  • Masculine characteristics: strong personality, willing to take a stand 
    • Gabby has no problem standing up to the people who hire her when she doesn’t want to do something.
