This episode passes as Amelia’s interactions in this episode are with Derek, Meredith, Owen, and the female patient that she is working on. Amelia has interaction with Callie as they determine what to do with the female patient, which allowed this episode to pass the Bechdel test. Based on Amelia’s body language and actions in this episode she is seen as equally masculine and feminine. Amelia is seen as being understanding, sensitive to others’ needs, shy and sympathetic which are signs of feminine traits they’re are matched with her masculine traits which were forcefulness, assertiveness, and being self-reliant in this episode. - Amelia is sympathetic in this episode as she makes sure to talk to a patient to let her know that her wants and needs are their top priority. She makes sure that her patient feels safe and knows that the team of doctors are doing the best for her care.

- She is self-sufficient as she works quickly on her feet after the patient’s injuries are worse than expected. She quickly considers her options and goes with the next best option to give her patient the best chance of success.
- Amelia becomes aggressive as she talks to Owen about whether or not he chose Amelia’s plan because they were in a relationship or if he chose her plan because it made the most sense with what the patient wanted.
