In season 5 episode 2 there is a scene and Kelso tells Jackie, his ex that he will still be there for all of her physical needs. This implies again that the characters in the show put these gender roles and stereotypes on other characters of the show.
Donna has to go to a new school which is private and has to wear a uniform. When she walks out the camera starts at her feet and works its way up her body, she is also looking into the distance inviting the viewer to look at her body. At first, Eric is mad that they have to go to different schools, but then once he sees the uniform he changes his mind because of the way she looks in the uniform. Throughout the show, the male characters constantly comment on Donna and her uniform.
Donna says that she wants Hide to tell her something and Hide responds that he “likes it when she orders him around in that uniform”. This is again putting those stereotypes on the female characters of the show.
Eric and Donna walk in on Jackie and Hide and Eric makes a scene because he doesn’t know how Kelso will react and Hide tells Eric to calm down and calls him “Esmerelda”. This implies that he is acting like a woman because he is making a big deal out of the situation.
This episode also passes the Bechdel test.
