In this post, I will be analyzing Amelia Shepherd in season 11 episode 1 of Greys Anatomy titled I Must Have Lost it On The Wind. I will be looking to see If in this episode if Amelia passes the Bechdel test along with how she is portrayed if she is seen as more feminine or masculine. Amelia is first seen for a brief moment at the beginning of the episode at a AAA meeting with Richard, then again she is shown quickly making eye contact with Richard at the hospital. The first interaction that Amelia has with another woman is with April Kepner, they have a quick conversation about a male patient. The other conversations that Amelia has with people other than April are her bother and the wife of the deceased patient. This episode, The Bechdel test for Amelia fails. Amelia shows compassion when she talks to the deceased patient wife which shows a more feminine side along with being kind and open with Richard. Whereas when Amelia shows a few masculine traits when she talks to her brother by talking as she is rasher and in charge of the conversation.
