This week consisted of many hours of filming for different videos.

Monday was the only day “off ” for filming that Ruthie and I had and it was spent tweaking and fixing the intros and outros for videos, along with fixing and adding credits to each of the videos.

Tuesday afternoon was the first student video for Dr. MacDiarmid for her Poetry Workshop class (ENGL 308). Wednesday we filmed the other student for her ENGL 425 class. We are starting to feel like we are perfecting the process and it takes less than fifteen minutes for student interviews from start to end.

Thursday I went into the Poetry Workshop to film B Roll for that video. This was the first time I was alone and without Ruthie and honestly I like it so much more when she is there.

The true test came today when I went to film a student for Intermediate Painting alone. It was easier for me because I knew Nikki from other presentations and organizations on campus. It works much better to film with two people because then one can work with the phone and tripod and the other can help set up the mics and then ask the questions to the student.

Next week will be back to editing, especially with the long videos for me. I have learned that it is so much easier to film with another person and it also makes me feel more comfortable to have another person with me.

  1. It is interesting to see how both your skill set and your comfort level evolve as we move farther into the project. As you continue to develop, consider thow you will mentor those who join the team. Now that Lexi is on board we need to help her to build on her existing skill set so that she can start to dive in and help with the videos.
