Week 20: End of Winter Break

Categories Full Spectrum Learning Research

Since Second Semester starts next week, I wanted to reflect on what has surprised me the most this past semester.

1. How close Ruthie and I are and how well we work together

Going into this experience, I had no idea how much work I would be doing together. We have very different personalities, and I feel like that is the reason we work so incredibly well together. I know she is only a text away if I ever need something or if I have a question and I honestly am not sure at how I would do this job without her and her helpful input.

2. How collaborative our team is

I am very surprised at how much input into the project I have. This job is very different from any other experience I have had. I was very much expecting to just be told what to do and not have any input in what I was doing and this is the opposite of the case.

3. Technical side of Web Design

I always thought that I would dread the technical aspects of creating a website because I always loved designing but never really understood coding. I have learned a lot of different tips on coding and also learned how to use WordPress.

I really was not sure what I was going to be doing on the project coming in. I am enjoying working on this project much more than I ever expected.

  1. Your insights provide a clear indication that there is much to learn in a college environment that takes place outside the structure of courses. That does not mean that more traditional academic structures are not valuable, only that sometimes we undersell the value of other settings.
