This week focused on trying to figure out the interactive table on the website. This process had me look into different plug-in options along with different coding options. Ultimately I decided to use HTML and CSS to code the table myself. It has been a long time since I have coded from scratch and had to look at source code. I really enjoyed this process as it reassured me that this is what I would like to do for the rest of my life. Throughout…Continue Reading “Week 8: Back to HTML and CSS”

This past Friday, October 12th, I along with a group of faculty and students presented our progress of Full Spectrum Learning and the Domains Initiative to the Board of Trustees. At St. Norbert College, the board of trustees over sees the president and the college. I presented with a fellow student and research fellow, Ruthie. The Week of the Presentation The week of the presentation involved many different elements and meetings. The first meeting on Monday afternoon was with the presenting group and explained the…Continue Reading “Board of Trustees Presentation”

The main accomplishment of this week was updating my personal blog with the implementation of the Google Drive Gallery Plugin. This plugin allows pictures to be pulled from Google Drive instead of the WordPress Media Library. This makes it easier to add and delete pictures, along with mainly lowering the storage on the domain. The download of the plugin took a little bit of time to understand, but there were detailed instructions to go along with it. Instalation The plugin was easy to install and…Continue Reading “Week 6: Google Drive Gallery”

The main focus for me this week was the opportunities section of the Full Spectrum Learning website. Throughout the week, I transformed an application into a Google Form, learned about the grants/stipends available for Full Spectrum Learning for faculty, and continued to grow in understanding of the different opportunities available at St. Norbert. Opportunities Available The main new opportunity I learned about this week was the T3 conference. Every May, St. Norbert hosts faculty and staff from colleges across the country to a conference about…Continue Reading “Week 5: Opportunities Page”

The main mission for me this week was to start to design the Full Spectrum Learning website for us to promote. The first step in making this site is to decide on a theme in WordPress. There are thousands to choose from, however, I ultimately decided on a theme called Shapely. Shapely’s homepage consists of many different widgets and blocks of information mixed together to create a visually appealing website. For the first draft of this site, we wanted to have information about what Full…Continue Reading “Week 4: Designing the Site”

My first three weeks working were mainly spent researching the background of Full Spectrum Learning and how it was created. The other main items I researched were the different pedagogical styles, interpersonal communication skills, video techniques, and the domain of one’s own. Domain of One’s Own One of my favorite opportunities to students at St. Norbert is the ability to have their own domain. Every student, no matter the major, has the ability to set up and manage their own domain and website. This site…Continue Reading “Weeks 1-3: Research on Full Spectrum Learning”
