SNC Day!
This weekend on campus is Family Weekend! That being said it is very chaotic having everyone up here all at once. The weather was beautiful and the day was very relaxing! Friday was spent bonding as a floor and we started off our Saturday with a boat cruise and ended with an art tour by Father Neilson.
Friday Night
After a stressful and long week of classes, Friday night was a welcome feeling. I started off my night with learning about Chiara (the Catholic Women’s Group on campus) and then eating a Parmesan Chicken Melt at Phil’s for dinner. Afterward, our floor bonded by decorating all the windows to our lounge to represent our majors. Ally, Lauren, and I helped to create the Computer Science/Graphic Design/Math window. Ally drew most of it because neither I nor Lauren
Fox River Boat Cruise
The first thing we did in the morning was head out on a boat cruise down the Fox River. The weather was perfect and the sights were even more beautiful! We got to see
Art Tour by Father Neilson
After the boat cruise, we headed to Gallagher’s for lunch and then back to campus for a bit before the tour. Father Jim Neilson held an art tour around campus displaying different structures and statues. The tour was incredibly informative and it explained how every building on campus is connected and how each one embodies the Catholic Faith. He showed us the spot of the first class founding St. Norbert (in the old rectory kitchen) along with the spot of where John F. Kennedy stood for an infamous picture when he visited campus right before his presidency. He also explained the significance of the octagon in the Catholic faith and how both reflection chappels on campus are in the shape of Octagons. My favorite part of the tour was when we all went into the church and he explained how the baptismal font is shaped into a womb to symbolize being born into living water. Every part of the tour helped me to fall in love with campus even more.
Overall, the day was beautiful and I am blessed to have the ability to attend this beautiful college.
