It had been 11 years since I put on a Packer jersey to not sit on the couch with my friends and family and watch the game but to actually be present in the fanatic environment of Lambeau Field. I don’t remember much from my first experience at Lambeau Field except for being bundled up in winter gear and cheering next to my Grandpa as the Packers. I also remember my grandfather sharing with me how people used to hitchhike to get to the game, and he shared his past experiences with me as we ate lunch at a local restaurant. However, despite my remembrance of these small memories with my grandfather, I failed to fully process the environment and dynamics of the stadium and Packer game as an eight year old. Therefore, as I drove to the game with my boyfriend on the beautiful fall day of Sunday October 21st, I faced a lot of unknowns. An adventure was beginning!
We were somewhat rushed to get to the game because we had left home late, and we really needed some coffee. Running low on energy was not acceptable for the excitement that was to come, so a quick stop at Luna’s was the answer. I guess the reason we felt rushed was from our concern of not being able to find parking, but we ended up finding a reasonable spot a few blocks away from the stadium. All was well. Upon parking, the walk to the stadium was short; but, once we reached the stadium, I took us the wrong direction to our gate. So, we did a lot more walking than necessary. Additionally, the game was to start soon and we hadn’t even gone through security. Whoops. All we could do was keep walking. Eventually, we reached the gate, easily got through security, and made it to our seats with 2 minutes to spare before the game began. Go us!! The course of events so far that morning felt a bit rushed, but it went impressively smooth.
My boyfriend and I were seated at the top of the stadium, and I mean the very top. Not only could we view the entirety of the field, we could also peer over the dome. We took in the breathtaking view of the fall-colored tree canopies throughout the city as well as the lake in the distance. I also cannot fail to mention that it was literally the perfect temperature that day. It was the ideal fall day that is typically envied.
As I mentioned, my boyfriend and I were seated at the top of the stadium; however, not only were we at the top of the stadium with other fans, fireworks were also up there too. The Packers played an amazing game and scored several touchdowns which is always thrilling! However, each time the Packers scored, the fireworks went off, and when the fireworks were set off, I would jump five feet out of my seat! Okay, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but trust me when I say it was startling. The reality is that myself and other fans became so engaged in the game that we forgot about these big launch pads set up on the roof next to us that initiated an explosion for each touchdown celebration. I enjoyed the fireworks very much, just not the startling factor. In addition to this, the band that performed during half-time was impressive, and the food there was satisfying. Let me just say, my boyfriend and I lived the fan experience that day with our jerseys and engagement in the dynamics of the stadium.
Another element that made this day an adventure was the fact that it was my boyfriends first time attending a Packer game! It was fun to watch his expressions in response to different stadium aspects and having a live-game experience. Not to brag, but we took some cute pictures during and after the game in and in front of the stadium as well as by the statues.
The game went quickly, but I embraced every moment. I am overly grateful for my grandparents gifting my boyfriend and I the opportunity to attend a Packer game together, and I look forward to the next time I will be able to engage in another stadium experience! That is a wrap of my Packer adventure!
