The next Justin Bieber song I will be analyzing is “Love Me” from his My World album which was released in 2009. This song provides examples of stereotypical masculine and feminine traits. The theory I will be using to analyze the song is the sex-role perspective theory.

Stereotypical Masculine Traits

  • Assertive
  • Ambitious

“Love me, Love me
Say that you love me
Fool me, fool me
Oh how you do me
Kiss me, kiss me
Say that you miss me
Tell me what I wanna hear
Tell me you (love me)
Love me, love me
Say that you love me
Fool me, fool me
Oh how you do me
Kiss me, kiss me
Say that you miss me
Tell me what I wanna hear
Tell me you love me”

These lyrics show that Bieber is being assertive with the chosen words to the girl. He is saying she needs to kiss him and love him. He. is being assertive by stating “tell me what I want to hear” because this would make his life better in the end, even if it does not help her. No matter what she does, she has to do what he is telling her to do. These lyrics also show that Bieber is ambitious with his goals with the girl.

Stereotypical Feminine Traits

  • Gullible
  • Childlike

“Baby you can do no wrong
My money is yours
Give you little more because I love you, love you
With me, girl, is where you belong
Just stay right here
I promise my dear I’ll put nothing above you. above you”

These lyrics show that the girl will be okay with him having money. No matter what happens in life, as long as he has money she will be ok in life. By stating that he gives her a little more money because he loves her insinuates that she is childlike. A child always wants a little more and BIebre is stating that she should want this money because she is childlike.
