The song “What He Didn’t Do” by Carly Pearce follows a storyline of a breakup and the emotions the woman is going through. There are definitely some “stereotypes” within the song, but since we just see the female side of the story there aren’t many male stereotypes.

Feminine Stereotypes (with specific lyrics)
- “Mama always said if you can’t say something nice, Then don’t say anything at all”
- Personally, I feel that girls are taught at a young age to approach things with grace and kindness no matter what the situation is. These lyrics can then fit that stereotype of soft female emotions and not really speaking what’s on their mind because it may not be nice.
After analyzing the lyrics of the song it became clear that instead of specific lyrics, the entire song as a whole can be seen as a stereotype. The female artist repeatedly says “But I’ll tell you what he didn’t do” referring to things missing from the relationship which inevitably lead to the ending of it. Oftentimes, when thinking about breakups it’s common to hear from the female perspective things that the male didn’t do, most like treating the girl right or not how she wanted. Situations like this then lead to the stereotypical thought that some, not all, guys don’t know how to treat a girl right in a relationship whether he knows it or not.
