The FOX television series New Girl, specifically season 7 episode 6 titled Mario 

 

Gender representation:

  • This episode is about Jess and Nick becoming engaged and the roommates spending some time together alone but end up becoming a part of the engagement by chance toward the end of the episode. Jess is surprising Nick with the adoption of a dog and she is very emotional over the process. In fact, this is the second time that she has attempted a meeting with a lady that sells the puppies. The first one didn’t go so well since the lady thought that Jess was crazy since she was crying uncontrollably because of how much she loved the dog. She is also emotional the second time the dog seller comes in but Nick is there to calm her down. This is an example of female stereotypes such as expressiveness and showing emotion.
  • Ally is helping Winston with his colorblind glasses so that he can now see colors that he didn’t even know existed. Winston is emotional over this process and when he puts the glasses on, he becomes overwhelmed with feelings and thoughts which makes him freak out. Ally is there to calm him down and make him realize that some things are the way they are for a reason. This is an example of stereotypical female traits such as supportiveness and gentleness.
