In season 1 episode 2, Mickey calls on the kids grandparents to take care of them so she can go back to her life before responsibilities, taking Alba with her.

Mickey and Jimmy (her “boyfriend” who was waiting at her old apartment for her) have a confrontation when she returns.

Masculine qualities:

  1. Self-reliant
    • when Jimmy said he missed her and the way she smells she said, “you can smell my ass when you kiss it goodbye” and tried to get him to leave her place
    • “don’t pay attention to him, he’s no one”
  2. Makes decisions easily
    • left the kids without putting any real thought into it
    • kicked out Jimmy
  3. Forceful
    • tries to force Alba to take acid, threatens her, and then puts it in her beer without telling her so she takes it unintentionally
  4. Dominant
    • Mickey has influence over Alba, and takes charge of their relationship
    • Mickey is also the more dominant of the two in her relationship with Jimmy

Feminine qualities:

  1. Affectionate
    • rubbing Alba’s back when she’s throwing up
  2. Loyal
    • when the kids need her back, she agrees to stay with them when they realize they all need each other

Mickey’s S1E2 sex role perspective is more masculine, so not stereotypical.
