Family drama, everywhere – that’s what this episode gives us. Amenadiel and Lucifer have their usual issues and Lucifer starts the episode talking about how brothers love to stand on their pedestal. Ella’s brother becomes implicated in some diamond-stealing-and-cleaning murder so of course she goes out of her way to protect him. She confides in Maze, who says that she has thousands of siblings and they all tortured her so screw em. However, demons and humans will always have a different perspective on life. We also find out that Pierce, aka Cain, was branded with his cursed mark by Amenadiel so we get a juicy fight at the end of the episode. Ella’s brother is guilty and family loyalty doesn’t seem to be real. Overall, episode 14 is just a huge dramafest.

So of course we have to come back to Lucifer and his endless family problems. Amenadiel’s task upon coming back to earth was to put Lucifer back in hell, but Amenadiel went and got involved with earth and is here to stay. Lucifer has big brother watching, quite literally, at all times. With all of the new developments he has learned this season and last season, it would seem that family is a topic of great discussion. Lucifer thinks his dad sucks overall but constantly wishes for His input on the choices he makes in life. Family is important to everyone, but the way that family treats an individual sets the framework for how that individual lives their life ultimately. A life surrounded by others or a life of solitude and being bitter. That might be an extreme comparison but definitely not for Lucifer’s case. His family hasn’t been the sweetest to him so now he thinks that there is always a catch. Perhaps the reason why Lucifer is the way he is, is because of his family. It seems very likely at this point.
