Examples of Masculine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:

  • Aggressive: Macy experiences a dream where a magical creature with the power to petrify humans attacks a man on campus, and turns him into a statue. Macy finds out that this “dream” was actually real, and explains how in the dream, she felt so much rage and need for vengeance. Because of this, she is scared that her demon side caused her to do this.
  • Analytical: Macy takes a sample of the man turned to stone to analyze it, figuring out that the stone is actually made out of organic matter and estimated to be 2800 years old–which helps them figure out that Medusa is committing these crimes.
  • Leadership ability: Macy uses a shield to block Medusa’s powers, and then is able to get through to her and free the humans turned to stone by acknowledging her trauma and being empathetic.

Examples of Feminine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:

  • Sympathetic: Macy is sympathetic to Medusa’s plight of being raped by Poseidon, and turned into a Gorgon as punishment, considering her own current predicament of being a Charmed One with emerging demonic powers.
  • Understanding: As explained to her by Elder Bari, Macy’s demonic power, “The Evil Sight” allows her to see past and present acts of evil, which is how she figures out that Charity was the one who murdered her mother Marisol at the beginning of the series.

Conclusion: Macy’s character arc continues to be an integral part of the series, as it is finally made clear to the audience that “good and evil” isn’t as clearcut as it once was in this universe. Macy and Parker have both been able to use their demonic powers for good, while Charity, an “good” authority figure actually committed a heinous act against a person who was supposed to be one of her greatest friends and allies. With this major revelation, it will be interesting to see how Macy continues to balance these two sides of herself.
