Examples of Masculine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:
- Aggressive/willing to take a stand: When Harry accidentally opens the bathroom door while Macy is in the bathtub, she thinks he may be a demonic intruder, and telekinetically throws him back into the hallway, into a closed door. This shows how much Macy has grown into using her powers defensively, even in such a short time. Another example of this “aggressiveness” with her telekinesis surfaces when Macy is visibly jealous around Galvin and his new girlfriend, Summer.
- Assertive: Macy chastises Harry for not respecting the “closed bathroom door” rule of knocking before entering, showing that she is still struggling with sharing a living space with her sisters, and now temporarily, their Whitelighter. She also again later reminds Maggie to respect her boundaries and not to use her powers to read her mind.
- Independent: Macy admits she pushed Galvin away after their kiss, and that it was easier to assume that his new girlfriend Summer was a succubus demon attempting to kill him, rather than facing the truth that he had moved on so quickly.
Examples of Feminine Personality Traits Exhibited by Macy Vaughn:
- Affectionate: In this episode, Macy and Maggie bond on a deeper level as they work together to contain the possible “succubus Summer” threat, and even share an umbrella while walking in the rain late in the episode, showing that Macy is still on her way to becoming a more open, emotionally accessible person, at least to her sisters and Harry.
- Eager to soothe hurt feelings: Macy tells Galvin that she’s sorry it has been weird between them, and that she’s also sorry for barging in his apartment the other night (in an attempt to stop “succubus” Summer, which ultimately was unfounded), and that Summer is an amazing woman.
- Gentle: Macy tells Maggie and Harry that “late-night bubble baths are my safe space,” an activity that is overtly considered to be more “feminine” in nature.
Conclusion: Macy is starting to form a even deeper bond with her sister Maggie, but despite this, Macy is still struggling with opening up to Galvin on a more romantic level. While it is clear she is adapting to witchcraft and sisterhood with more ease, the experiences that shaped her adolescence and early adulthood continue to hinder her from being open with Galvin about her true feelings.
