On the cover of Ironman magazine, Olympia Winner, Joseph Ortiz, embodies several of the stereotypical traits that are associated with men.

A Sex Role Perspective
  1. Simply in this image it is clear that Ortiz is in shape. The qualities of strength, being an athlete, power, toughness, ect. are all associated with the idea of what it means to be masculine. Ortiz represents the epitome of what stereotypes men by showing off his robust features.
  2. In addition, Ortiz is playing an active role with the audience. He is making eye contact and is positioned in a way that shows his confidence and authority he has in being a man.
