This screenshot is right from the beginning of episode one, season one, on the show New Girl. Jesse, who is in the photo, is doing an interview with three guys to see if she would be a good fit for their fourth roommate. She assumes they are women because they used words such as “sun-soaked” and “beige-y” to describe the colors of the apartment. Schmidt, the man who wrote the description, automatically acts tough and takes his shirt off to show her he is a man. This shows the stereotypes of men needing to be “strong and masculine” and women being “feminine and being more domestic”. Jesse assuming they are women because they go into detail about the interior design and Schmidt having to act tough and brave to seem more “manly.”
