In this post we examine a scene that is about halfway through the first film. This is a scene where Imhotep, who mostly uphold gender stereotypes, breaks one.

Throughout the first film Imhotep really only shows two emotions: anger or smugness. In this instance however, we see him show another emotion. When he sees a cat Imhotep is visually afraid and we see him literally flee out of that fear.

Imhotep goes against gender stereotypes by showing fear and running away.
