In the episode titled Doppelgangers of the How I Met Your Mother series the gang are walking around New York city when they see a woman who looks identical to Robin Scherbatsky but is dressed differently. They quickly determine that it is a woman who just looks exactly like her. The gang makes it a mission to try and discover everyone’s doppelganger. The next one they find is by Marshall when barney brings him to a strip club, and he sees what appears to be his wife dancing on a pole. It appears to be Lily but is really a Russian stripper named Ester. The male gaze comes in when they decide to take a character of the show and immediately sexualize her when they could. There are many scenes that just focus on the woman dancing and touching herself on the stage while Marshall and Barney watch.
