In this episode of How I Met Your Mother we watch and focus on Barney’s mission to have sex with the new bartender. Apparently Barney has never had sex with a “hot bartender” and has always been one of his dreams. This is already objectifying in a way because the women is only seen as a sex symbol as many guys crowd around her and leave her enormous tips just to get her attention for a few minutes. There are many shots of the women put into slow motion as the song Sweet Cherry Pie plays in the background. However the women does not like men who wear suits and Barney is in conflict to choose her over his suits and by the end of the episode he gets her into bed by saying he will get rid of the suits but never does just to complete his mission. The male gaze is seen whenever the bartender is in frame and it emphasizes that the role bartender is a sexy objectifying job for women to show off their bodies.
