Does it pass the Bechdel Test? Yes
Power Structures Enforcing Masculinity and Femininity
-
Masculinity
- Taking Carter on a mission would be like “babysitting” and they couldn’t be held responsible for getting a woman killed on the front lines
- In the end, Carter is asked to go for drinks with the men from the mission. She is not normally invited to this it is normally a men’s thing.
-
Femininity
- Carter breaks the code, as this is more her specialty. However, during this, they ask her if she is doing it right and she tells them that she is trying to concentrate. I think that this goes under femininity because women were more likely to be code-breakers then.
- The only ladies’ room is downstairs in a whole different company. She changes with the men.
