In episode sixteen, the girls met for their poker game, but each of the girls dealt with their own struggles on their own. 

This episode would pass the Bechdel test. 

  • There are four main characters that are girls 
  • The four girls are all neighbors and close friends, so they interact almost daily
  • In this episode, a neighbor, Maisy, was arrested, so this was a lot of what people were talking about 

Bree

  • Feminine characteristics: Cheerful, Compassionate, Eager to soothe hurt feelings, Soft-spoken
    • Regardless of her and Rex’s problems, she still loves and supports him as he has his health struggles. They begin to mend their relationship more, but the arrest of Rex’s mistress puts a bump in the process. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Assertive, Willing to take risks, Dominant, Willing to take a stand, Competitive, Ambitious

Susan

  • Feminine characteristics: Affectionate, Understanding, Loves children 
    • Susan makes up with Mike, and misses Julie as she spends the weekend with her father. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Self-reliant, Assertive, Analytical, Willing to take risks, Willing to take a stand
    • Susan spends majority of the show by herself, being sad and feeling sorry for herself. After a neighbor brings her out drinking, she decides to break into a mans house who she believes to be framing Mike for murder. She becomes assertive with Mike prior to making up. 

Lynette

  • Feminine characteristics: Sympathetic, Loves children
    • Lynette is sympathetic towards Susan as she goes through a break up. She also has to care for her children who have head lice. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Assertive, Analytical, Willing to take risks, Willing to take a stand, Competitive, Ambitious
    • Lynette does everything she can to figure out who started the head lice as her two boys are the one who are getting the blame. This caused them to be uninvited from a birthday party where Lynette decides to bring her kids regardless. 

Gabby

  • Feminine characteristics: Affectionate, Loyal
    • Gabby stays loyal and happy with her husband regardless of their financial situation. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Self-sufficient, Competitive, Ambitious 
    • Gabby wants nothing more than to be rich and succeed in life. She has to become creative when their sewage goes out.
