In episode fifteen, Susan’s lover, Mike, is arrested due to the girls calling him in. Susan deals with this as well as Julie while Bree deals with her daughter’s trouble as well. Gabby and Lynette deal with their husbands and their troubles with work. 

This episode wouldn’t pass the Bechdel test. 

  • There are four main characters that are girls 
  • The four girls are all neighbors and close friends, so they interact almost daily
  • In this episode, each of the girls’ conversations were about a male. 

Bree

  • Feminine characteristics: Understanding, Loves children 
    • Bree cares for her children, but is startled when she finds a condom in the laundry. 
    • Although shes angered, she talks to her daughter about abstinence and safe sex. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Defends own beliefs, Assertive,

Susan

  • Feminine characteristics: Affectionate, Not susceptible to flattery, Understanding, Gullible, Childlike, Loves her children
    • Susan continues to guide Julie in the right direction as she grows older and is exploring with boys. She learns of Mike’s past and figures out she really doesn’t know who he is. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Defends own beliefs, Assertive, Self-sufficient
    • Susan bans Julie from seeing the boy next door any longer. She defends Mike while talking to the cops until they show her his record. 

Lynette

  • Feminine characteristics: Cheerful, Affectionate, Understanding, Compassionate, Loves children 
    • Lynette is happy to have her husband home and spend quality time with him. She is supportive of him after losing his promotion. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Defends own beliefs, Assertive, Willing to take a stand
    • Lynette is angered when Tom says he is trying to get a promotion that will cause him to travel more often. 

Gabby

  • Feminine characteristics: Yielding, Loyal, Sensitive to others’ needs, Eager to soothe hurt feelings
    • Gabby helps a lost boy realize if he is into women or not while also supporting her husband. 
  • Masculine characteristics: Strong personality, Forceful, Willing to take a stand
    • Gabby slaps her new gardener as he tries to force himself onto her.
