This post will focus on Anck-Su-Namun’s first appearance in the second film in the franchise. Anck-Su-Namun right away breaks gender stereotypes.

At first, she looks like she upholds them, she’s clothed in a fancy dress, contrasted with the other prominent female character who wears pants in the film. Anck-Su-Namun quickly disproves this assumption by taking out a snake and preparing to torture information from a side character. The gender stereotypes of compassion and tenderness are abandoned for ambition and a lack of empathy.

Anck-Su-Namun goes against gender stereotypes in this scene by showing a willingness to be cruel and torture a person. She displays little to no feminine traits in the scene.
