In this episode, I will be analyzing Season 1 Episode 2 of Breaking Bad. In this episode, it seems like it will fail the Bechdel Test, which it still technically does, depending on how you look at it. Skylar is pictured having a discussion with the ultrasound technician when finding out the gender of her baby. Ironically, the gender of the baby is also a girl, so I think that this episode passes the test, due to the fact that the technician and Skylar (the two women), were able to have discussions about her baby and her pregnancy, rather than her terminally ill and drug-dealing husband and his business partner, Jesse Pinkman. This part of the episode made it seem like Skylar was an important part of the show and it gave her recognition as a woman instead of the men that were the main focus for the other 50 some minutes of the episode. Even though her scene only lasted a few minutes, and her husband was at the appointment and pictured in the scene, I think that this episode of Breaking Bad passes the Bechdel test.
