One of the main surprises of my job so far has been how many different applications I have used and the ways I have been using them.
I mainly use four different websites or applications for my work: Email, WordPress, WeVideo, and Google Calendar.
Email is the easiest way for all of us to stay connected and it is extremely convenient to communicate between the team.
WordPress was the newest application to me when I first started my journey on this project. All of my previous website design was all in Adobe Dreamweaver. Switching over to WordPress with the themes and templates was definitely an interesting switch but I have learned many things in the past five short months.
I had only used WeVideo a handful of times before I started this project. In high school I had been taught in Adobe Premiere and iMovie for most of my video editing skills. The setup for WeVideo is very similar to Adobe Premiere, but many of the settings in Premiere are more in depth and in different locations. Of the four applications I mainly use, WeVideo is my weakest and the one I use the least for my work for FSL.
The application I wished I used earlier is Google Calendar. Honestly looking back, I have no clue how I survived high school without using it. Before college, I mainly used my iPhone calendar, however, I love collaborative Google Calendar is, especially shared events. Being able to check others calendars to see when they are busy is one of the best features of Google Calendar.
The helpful feature I learned about this week was the different calendar options that are possible. Users are able to place different events on different calendars and change the color of events. Being able to have different colors for class, work, clubs, and other activities has been extremely helpful.
I have learned a lot about different applications such as Google Team Drives, Google Chats and Slack along with the four mentioned above in the five short months since I began working.
