This week&#8217;s seminar on the topic focused on &#8220;Four Loves,&#8221; as identified by C.S. Lewis at least.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">Here is a smattering of what I learned from our four panelists:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AFFECTION: &#8220;Pietas&#8221; does not translate as piety. As parsed by\u00a0<strong>Father Andrew Ciferni \u201964<\/strong> (Center for Norbertine Studies) we should understand it more as &#8220;radical hospitality&#8221; or &#8220;civility,&#8221; interpreted broadly. How Norbertine is that!<\/li>\n<li>FRIENDSHIP: Another person can help us tell our story in a different way \u2013 <strong>Paul Wadell <\/strong>(Religious Studies)<\/li>\n<li>EROS: The love that develop between two people who yearn for union is meant to overflow and be of benefit to the whole world. \u2013 <strong>Bridget Burke Ravizza<\/strong> (Religious Studies).<\/li>\n<li>CHARITY: We can really only love God as much as we love the person we love the least. \u2013\u00a0<strong>Julie Massey \u201987 <\/strong>(Campus Ministry), quoting Dorothy Day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">In summary: Any love, done right, enlarges the world. Abbot Pennings was right!
