While analyzing with the Sex Role Perspective, I will utilize the items for evaluating masculinity and femininity as presented by Hyde (1995, p. 134), and these specific items will be <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">italicized<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In this post, I will be discussing the music video for \u201cKamariya\u201d from the Bollywood film <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mitron<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Link to video: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=i0_m90T04uw\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kamariya \u2013 Mitron| Jackky Bhagnani| Kritika Kamra| Darshan Raval | Lijo-DJ Chetas | Ikka<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Evaluating Masculinity<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Reinforcing stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main male character is shown in scenes with sparks flying around him, portraying him as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">willing to take risks<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All of the drummers in the music video are men, showing male characters in more <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">forceful<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">aggressive<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> types of<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">roles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main male character is portrayed as being <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">dominant <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and having a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">strong personality<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, as he is the center of many scenes, with others carrying him on a platform or dancing around him.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Resisting stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In general, the main male character is very <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cheerful <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and almost <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">childlike<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with his excited, energetic demeanor.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main male character is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">affectionate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> towards the main female character, doing things like giving her flowers and constantly smiling at her.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Evaluating Femininity<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Reinforcing stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main female character is quite <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cheerful<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in general.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Many of the female characters in the music video wear saris that are <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">warm <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">colors like pink.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main female character scoffs at the main male character\u2019s dancing and his attempted flattery a few times, showing that she is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">not susceptible to flattery<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Resisting stereotypes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main female character appears to have a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">strong personality<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, as she makes eye contact and walks with confidence.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main female character ignores the male character and walks away a few times, which portrays her as somewhat <i><span>independent <\/span><\/i><span>and <\/span><i><span>self-reliant<\/span><\/i><span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am analyzing the most viewed Bollywood music videos on YouTube using the Sex Role Perspective.
